A useful custom ceramic quotation depends on the quality of the input. “Please quote this ceramic part” usually leaves unanswered questions about material, interfaces, tolerances, inspection and application conditions.
Preferred starting point: a controlled drawing
Send a PDF drawing and, when available, the 2D or 3D source file. Identify the revision and mark the dimensions or characteristics that affect assembly, performance or safety.
If only a sample is available
A physical sample can support reverse-engineering review, but it may include wear, distortion, deposits or damage. Add photographs, mating-part information and a list of features that should be restored rather than copied.
Minimum RFQ checklist
- Material: fused silica, alumina, known grade or required properties.
- Geometry: dimensions, interfaces, holes, ends, wall thickness and critical tolerances.
- Application: temperature, atmosphere, load, cycle, contact media and current failure concern.
- Inspection: datum, method, sampling and required records.
- Commercial: prototype or repeat quantity, target date, destination and packaging.

Not every dimension needs the same tolerance. Mark assembly and process-critical features.
How will the part be accepted?
Define the measurement method where it affects the result, especially for straightness, runout, flatness, surface condition and complex profiles.
Is this a prototype or repeat order?
Prototype and repeat production may use different tooling, sampling and documentation plans.
What happens after submission
The first review checks material scope, manufacturability, missing information and required evidence. Questions are returned before the quotation is treated as a complete production scope.
