Which materials are available for ceramic rings and wear components?
Alumina is commonly reviewed for wear, insulation and mechanical service. Fused silica is considered for thermal rings where low expansion is important. Final selection depends on the drawing and operating conditions.
Can ring faces be lapped or polished?
Face-finishing requirements can be reviewed when the target roughness, flatness, parallelism, mating function and inspection method are defined on the drawing.
Which ring dimensions and tolerances must be specified?
Provide outside and inside diameter, thickness or overall length, face geometry, grooves, steps, edge details, datums, tolerances and the required inspection method.
Why are the mating material and operating medium important?
Wear, friction, leakage, thermal expansion and chemical compatibility depend on the mating surface, medium, temperature, load and motion. Include these conditions in the RFQ.
Can ceramic rings be manufactured from a sample?
A physical sample can support review, but a dimensioned drawing with acceptance criteria is preferred. Reverse-engineering scope and any destructive measurement must be agreed first.
What inspection records can be supplied?
Available records may include agreed dimensional, face, surface, visual, material and batch documents. State the required reports and acceptance criteria before quotation.
