Fused Silica Rollers for Glass Heat Treatment

Fused silica hollow rollers can be produced by near-net shaping, high-temperature sintering and precision cold machining. Typical applications include horizontal glass tempering, float-glass transfer and annealing, steel-strip continuous annealing and large-format tile production. Final suitability depends on the selected grade, line geometry, atmosphere, load, duty cycle and inspection method.

Fused silica is the primary option for low-expansion rollers used in glass and thermal-processing lines. Alumina can be reviewed for wear, insulation or other mechanical duties when the drawing and operating conditions support it.

Yes. A current equipment drawing is preferred because it defines the roller body, end interfaces, datums and critical dimensions. A physical sample can support reverse-engineering review when dimensions and acceptance criteria are available.

Provide body diameter, working length, overall length, wall section or bore, end geometry, straightness or runout requirement, surface finish and the relevant inspection datum.

State the continuous and peak temperature, atmosphere, supported load, line speed, contact material, heating and cooling cycle, and any contamination or surface-marking limits.

Metal end interfaces and assembled fittings can be reviewed from the equipment drawing. Material, fit, attachment method and runout requirements must be agreed before quotation.

Available records may include agreed dimensional, runout, surface, visual, material and batch documents. List the required reports and acceptance criteria in the RFQ.
